CHAIR MESSAGE

Dear students,

The development of mutual economic and political relations between countries has led to an increase in the need for capital goods and passenger transportation. This situation has brought about the rapid growth of the global aviation industry. Although the growth of the aviation industry was interrupted from time to time by global crises, the industry managed to overcome the crises and continued on its way by increasing its employment and production capability.

The growth of the civil aviation sector has also increased the demand for qualified manpower. According to the reports of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM), the number of personnel employed in the aviation sector has increased threefold since 2003, reaching 220 thousand. It is expected that the new airport of Istanbul will create 225 thousand new jobs directly and indirectly, as it reaches full capacity. For this reason, the preparation of qualified manpower for the sector plays an important role in the development of aviation, which is the locomotive sector for many sectors. In this context, our department, which aims to take pioneering and important steps in aviation, was established in order to contribute to the increasing employment of educated workforce in the aviation field around the world and to our national targets with a highly skilled workforce.

In our department, which basically provides 4-year education, optional preparatory education (English), which is a must for the aviation industry, is also given. Our course contents have been designed with the understanding of the vision of "The Future is in the Skies", taking into account the trend of the aviation industry around the world, and with an advisory board made up of industry leaders and academics so that you can have an analytical mindset. In the education program designed as 6+1+1 in our department; In addition to the courses to be taken with academicians from the field in 6 terms, practical trainings are given with experts from the field in the 7th term, and internship (intern) practice is carried out in the 8th term. We will be happy to train you with an understanding that is important due to its long-term benefits and that gives importance to practice as well as theoretical applications.

It will make us proud to take part in the ever-changing and developing aviation industry.

Best regards...

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İnan ERYILMAZ
