“Accessible Aviation: Sign Language Training” Project Receives Support Under the ÜNİDES Program

The project titled “Accessible Aviation: Sign Language Training”, carried out by our students, has been awarded support within the scope of the University Student Clubs Cooperation and Support Program (ÜNİDES).

This project holds the distinction of being the first project supported under the ÜNİDES program both in Keçiborlu and within the School of Civil Aviation.

The project aims to enable civil aviation students to acquire basic communication skills through Turkish Sign Language (TİD), express aviation-specific terminology using sign language, and develop lasting materials (such as a glossary and educational videos) that will raise awareness about accessible aviation.

Within this scope, the project seeks to:

Promote the development of an inclusive service mindset among students,
Enhance social awareness and empathy towards individuals with hearing impairments,
Encourage students to act with a sense of social responsibility and contribute to inclusive social benefit.

The Accessible Aviation Project is conducted by the Aviation and Space Community, under the academic supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alper Dalkıran and Res. Asst. Büşra Yıldırım, coordinated by Lorin Özkan with the participation of Aslı Uçar, in collaboration with the Keçiborlu Public Education Center.

This meaningful initiative represents the first step towards accessible communication in both Keçiborlu and the School of Civil Aviation, marking an important milestone in fostering inclusivity within the field of aviation.
